Media Eye News Bureau: Boney Kapoor, director and husband of the late Sridevi, was not called by the Dubai police on Monday for further interrogation as he only provided his testimony on Sunday morning, reports Khaleej Times.
The Gulf daily has confirmed that all media reports regarding further questioning are baseless.
Dubia police revealed a forensic report yesterday that Sridevi died due to accidental drowning and didn't suffer a cardiac arrest.
Earlier reports also suggest that she lost her balance and fell into the bathtub.
The Khaleej Times quoted family sources to report that Boney Kapoor, waiting to take Sridevi out to dinner, found her motionless at the Jumeirah Emirates Towers. Boney Kapoor, a filmmaker, had returned to Mumbai with their daughter but had flown back to Dubai reportedly to surprise his wife.
He woke her up and the couple chatted for about 15 minutes before he invited her for dinner. The Chandni-fame star then went to the washroom. After 15 minutes passed and Sridevi did not come out, Kapoor knocked on the door to check on her. When he got no response, he forced open the door to find the legendary actor lying motionless in the bathtub full of water. "He tried to revive her and when he could not, he called a friend of his. After that, he informed the police at 9pm," Khaleej Times reported.
Sridevi’s mortal remains will be flown back to India from Dubai on Monday, her family said in a statement.
Indian officials and family members of Sridevi are still waiting for the necessary certificates from the Dubai authorities to start the process of repatriating her mortal remains.
