Maharashtra Home Ministry to conduct inquiry
against 'phone tapping by previous governments':

The Maharashtra government's home department will soon conduct an investigation into allegations of "misuse of telephone tapping by past governments." According to Anil Deshmukh, the State's home department has received many complaints about the same in the last few days from political parties and leaders. He tweeted "Home Department has received many complaints from political parties & leaders about misuse of Phone Tapping by previous Governments. This abuse of power violates right to freedom & privacy as enshrined in the Constitution of India and is a National Security Threat. Hence a comprehensive inquiry will be conducted within 6 weeks by a 2 member committee of Shri Shrikant Singh (IAS) ACS Home & Shri Amitesh Kumar (IPS) Joint Commissioner of Intelligence."
