Wednesday,08 Jan 2020
Police in a city in West Bengal faced stone pelting and a mob torched two of its vehicles, allegedly made up of trade union supporters who called for Bharat Bandh. The police were trying to remove a blockade on NH-34 when they were attacked. They fired in the air and lobbed tear gas shells after baton charge failed to bring the situation under control. Last month in protests against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act or CAA, Malda witnessed widespread arson.
