05:12 pm New Delhi: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) sent the 2012 gang-rape convict mercy petition file to President Ramnath Kovind in the Nirbhaya case Vinay Sharma. The Ministry of Home Affairs has recommended that the President deny the request for mercy submitted by Vinay Sharma. The Lieutenant-Governor of Delhi, Anil Baijal, sent the recommendation to withdraw the application to the Ministry of Home. Earlier today, Nirbhaya's mother Asha Devi said she wanted the 'justice system' to hang the perpetrators to death.
04:12 pm Cyberabad: The law has done its job, a top police officer said on Friday as questions were raised on the pre-dawn shooting in which four men were shot dead, accused of gang rape and killing a young veterinarian in Telangana. According to Cyberabad police chief VC Sajjanar, the men attacked the police and snatched weapons when they were taken to the crime spot for investigations. After the accused began to hit us with stones and sharp objects, and snatched our weapons we had to shoot in response, the police chief said, the police had been restrained and repeatedly asked the accused to surrender. Two policemen in the 10-member team suffered head injuries (not bullet wounds), he said.

09:12 am The four accused in the Hyderabad gangrape and murder case were killed in a Friday wee hours encounter by the Telangana Police. "The accused Mohammed Arif, Naveen,Shiva and Chennakeshavulu were killed in a Police encounter at Chatanpally,Shadnagar today in the wee hours, between 3 am and 6am. I have reached the spot and further details will be revealed," Cyberabad Police Commissioner V C Sajjanar said. According to sources, as part of inquiries, police took the suspect to the location where the incident took place to reconstruct the crime scene. Then the suspect tried to escape and the police were targeted. The police opened fire on them in self-defence.
04:12 pm New Delhi: Parliamentarians will no longer receive food at reduced rates as all discounts provided to MPs on food items in both houses came to an end on Thursday with immediate effect. The announcement was made by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.The decision was taken during a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC), attended by MPs from different parties who unanimously agreed to end the subsidy on all food items in the canteen of the Parliament.
04:12 pm Unnao: In a shocking incident, her accused, who is on bail on Thursday, set ablaze a rape survivor in Uttar Pradesh's Unnao. She sustained burn injuries of 90 percent and is currently being treated in a hospital in Lucknow. It is suspected that the five men who raped her this year in March are behind the incident. They were all arrested police said. Three of them are charged with raping her. According to sources, before setting her on fire, the culprits took the woman to fields outside the village, dousing her in kerosene. While after the incident, the key accused surrendered to the police, police raided other people's homes as they fled the spot after setting it on fire.
