04:12 pm New Delhi: Parliamentarians will no longer receive food at reduced rates as all discounts provided to MPs on food items in both houses came to an end on Thursday with immediate effect. The announcement was made by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.The decision was taken during a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC), attended by MPs from different parties who unanimously agreed to end the subsidy on all food items in the canteen of the Parliament.
04:12 pm Unnao: In a shocking incident, her accused, who is on bail on Thursday, set ablaze a rape survivor in Uttar Pradesh's Unnao. She sustained burn injuries of 90 percent and is currently being treated in a hospital in Lucknow. It is suspected that the five men who raped her this year in March are behind the incident. They were all arrested police said. Three of them are charged with raping her. According to sources, before setting her on fire, the culprits took the woman to fields outside the village, dousing her in kerosene. While after the incident, the key accused surrendered to the police, police raided other people's homes as they fled the spot after setting it on fire.
01:12 pm Kolkata: Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar of Bengal, who is involved with chief minister Mamata Banerjee in a power tussle, claimed on Thursday that he had been stopped from entering the state assembly. Later he entered the Assembly premises through Gate no 4, meant for media persons and officials. Dhankhar said gate no. 3, which was intended for the entrance and exit of the governor, was closed in spite of his prior intimation."Why is the No 3 gate closed? The gate is shut following my previous intimation. The adjournment of the assembly does not mean that it is closed. "Being locked the governor's gate has shamed our democratic history," the governor said to reporters later.
05:12 pm Lucknow: The Allahabad high court granted bail to Uttar Pradesh law student who charged former Union minister Chinmayanand with rape and was arrested for allegedly trying to extort money from the former minister. The second-year student at a college in Shahjahanpur was missing on August 24 after posting a social media video a day earlier, accusing him of bullying her and "destroying many girls ' lives." Chinmayanand's lawyer who had filed a counter-extortion case against the law student, charged that she, together with three of her male friends, Sachin Sengar, Shivam Singh, and Vikaram Singh, made Rs 5 Crore's application for ransom through a text message to her client. The woman had earlier said that the case of extortion against her had been slapped to weaken her case against Chinmayanand.
05:12 pm The six Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) staff have died and three are injured after a jawan fired at his own colleagues after a dispute between themselves in Narayanpur district of Chattisgarh. The incident took place at the Kadenar camp of ITBP's 45th battalion, where the jawan shot himself after killing others. Chattisgarh police and Central Reserve Police Force have been called upon to investigate the matter.
01:12 pm Mumbai: Maharashtra's chief minister, Uddhav Thackeray, is likely to withdraw "false" cases in the Bhima-Koregaon violence that broke out last year against certain individuals. Reports say Uddhav Thackeray, at a meeting with MLAs of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Tuesday, mulled over this issue. However, in the meeting, the Chief Minister has made it clear that offences of serious nature which include cases of people charged with sedition and having links to Maoist organisations will not be withdrawn.
