The Maratha Kranthi Morcha, a Maratha group that enforces a bandh in Mumbai in order to press its demand for reservation in jobs and education, called off its strike in the city a after a day-long protest and violence.
The protesters had blocked the road and rail services in many parts of Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Raigad districts, including the Mumbai-Pune highway and the Eastern Expressway. The protesters even forced shops to shut it. Violence was started in many parts of the state after a protester committed suicide by jumping into a river in Aurangabad
