COVID19 updates Italy extends nationwide lockdown till April 13

Rome: Italy extended lockdown until April 13, which was due to end on 3rd April, Prime Minister  Giuseppe Conte informed Wednesday, by signing a new decree extending the current measures. 

The announcement came just two days before the current lockdown, started  from March 10. Italy witnessed the highest number of coronavirus deaths in the world at 13,155, while confirmed cases tally stood at 110,574.

Enumerating the death tolls, the PM said in a television address “ this is a wound that pains us especially; it is a wound that will never heal," Conte said in a televised address.

He continued by saying we are not in a condition to relax our restrictive measures yet and that's why he signed a new decree that extends the current measures to April 13. Wishing a new hope he informed they are beginning to see the positive effects of the lockdown and is relaxing now.

He continued  additional effort will allow citizens to begin future prospects. Consolidating the scientific data, they begin for a gradual lessening of restrictions. 

He explained that after lockdown is over, there will be a "Phase Two" followed by "Phase Three". "Phase Two is when the country coexists with the virus and adopts measures to gradually loosen restrictions.In Phase Three, when the emergency is over, and resume working and social lives. He said Phase Three is the phase of reconstruction and the relaunch of social and economic lives.
