New Delhi: In view of violent protests against the controversial Citizenship Amendment Bill the Biplab Deb government decided to block mobile internet and SMS services throughout Tripura for 24 hours. The move came in the midst of violence that erupted during an 11-hour shutdown called by powerful northeastern student groups to protest the move of the central government which, they say, could strip the region of its ethnic identity.
