NEW DELHI: It seems no end to the 'Chowkidar' wave as Prime Minister Narendra Modi has changed the title of his Twitter account to "Chowkidar Narendra Modi", a day after he launched his party's video campaign "Main Bhi Chowkidar (I am a watchman too)" for the national election.

BJP president Amit Shah, central ministers JP Nadda and Piyush Goyal have also followed the same by changing their title with a "Chowkidar" prefix.

"The one who made cleanliness a moral value… he is called Chowkidar #MainBhiChowkidar. Say with all your heart #ChowkidarPhirSe (watchman again)," Amit Shah tweeted.

जिसने बनाया स्वच्छता को संस्कार…वो है चौकीदार। #MainBhiChowkidar

"As Chowkidars of our nation, we are committed to creating a clean economy by using cashless financial transactions. The menace of corruption and black money has adversely affected us for decades. Time to eliminate these for a better future. #MainBhiChowkidar #ChowkidarPhirSe", Piyush Goyal tweeted.

PM Modi released the campaign video yesterday on Twitter with the title "Your Chowkidar is standing firm & serving the nation."

He attached a few more words to the campaign video

But, I am not alone.

Everyone who is fighting corruption, dirt, social evils is a Chowkidar.

Everyone working hard for the progress of India is a Chowkidar.

Today, every Indian is saying-#MainBhiChowkidar

The video is an amalgamation of various projects introduced by the NDA govt. such as Mudra Yojana, Clean India and many more.

Chowkidar is a word common in the political circles of the country after Narendra Modi had used it for the first time during the 2014 National election campaign saying, he would guard people's money and trust once he assumed power in the centre.

Later PM Modi and Congress President Rahul Gandhi had engaged in a war of words in the name of Chowkidar as he said "Chowkidar chor hai" when he constantly dragged the PM in Rafale Jet Deal controversy. Mr Gandhi alleges that Modi intentionally tweaked rules regarding the fighter jet purchase.
