New Delhi: LinkedIn, the world’s largest professional networking platform, announced on Thursday that it has added ten new language options, including four Indian regional languages.
LinkedIn’s language expansion is a testament to its commitment to diversity and inclusivity. The platform now offers a wide range of languages, including Vietnamese, Greek, Persian, Finnish, Hebrew, Hungarian, and four Indian regional languages: Bengali, Marathi, Telugu, and Punjabi.
LinkedIn said in a statement that the new additions expand its support to five Indian languages, including Hindi.
“We’re excited to announce that LinkedIn is now more inclusive and accessible than ever. We’ve expanded our language support to include 10 new languages, each representing a vibrant part of our global community,” said Chief Product Officer Tomer Cohen.
LinkedIn’s member base in India has seen a remarkable surge, surpassing 135 million, with engagement rates soaring by 20 percent year over year. India is LinkedIn’s second-largest and fastest-growing market, underscoring its increasing relevance and the sense of belonging it offers to its members.
By adding these languages, LinkedIn aims to bridge language barriers on the platform, allowing more people to establish deeper professional identities and engage more meaningfully with their networks.
“With these additions, our platform now supports a total of 36 languages, helping professionals around the world connect, communicate, and collaborate more effectively,” said Cohen.
Its commitment to the Indian market is further underscored by the recent strategic appointment of Kumaresh Pattabiraman as the new Country Manager and Product Head in India. This move signals the platform’s recognition of India’s importance and its strategic growth plans for the region.
According to Pattabiraman, LinkedIn has undergone a significant evolution. It has transitioned from being a mere job platform to becoming a dynamic global community where professionals connect for jobs, learning, networking, and knowledge sharing.
India is among the top five countries with the fastest-growing AI talent and the highest AI skill penetration globally. Members use AI skills three times more frequently than the global average.
LinkedIn recently launched a new video experience in India in a bid to tap into one of the fastest-growing markets. Uploads in the country have grown 60 percent year over year.
