US-Based Pharma Company Plans Expansion in India, Announces Setting Up of a New Facility Near Mumbai

Mumbai: In a significant move to cater to the burgeoning needs of the Indian pharmaceutical industry, AptarGroup, Inc., a leading player in drug and consumer product dosing, dispensing, and protection technologies, has announced the establishment of its new pharmaceutical plant in Taloja, India, near Mumbai.  The Company is headquartered in Illinois, United States.

With this strategic decision, the upcoming Taloja plant will enable Aptar to meet the region’s growing needs by adding an additional 4400 m2 of manufacturing footprint. It will be constructed adjacent to the existing Aptar Mumbai facility, which opened in 2023.

This additional plant in Taloja will further strengthen our ability to efficiently deliver high-quality, innovative products and reinforce our commitment to investing in the pharmaceutical markets. Additionally, we are keen on exploring acquisitions in the pharma space. We see significant growth potential within the pharmaceutical industry in India and the potential to expand our position in the market.”

The new state-of-the-art facility will expand the company’s existing footprint in the region while adding additional local production of several technologies, including Aptar’s pressurised metered-dose inhaler (pMDI) valve, breath-actuated devices, and single-dose nasal sprays.

The company looks for potential acquisitions and partnerships with IP-driven pharmaceutical packaging companies to continue expanding its drug dosing, dispensing, and protection offerings.
