The India Semiconductor Mission, funded by major companies such as AMD, Applied Materials, and Micron Technology, seeks to increase domestic chip production.
The Yogi Adityanath government vigorously markets Uttar Pradesh as a semiconductor manufacturing powerhouse that aligns with this national strategy. The recently implemented UP Semiconductor Policy offers significant advantages, including a 50% additional capital subsidy, a 75% land refund, a 100% exemption from energy duty for ten years, and a 5% interest subsidy (up to Rs 7 crore).
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has asked investors to consider Uttar Pradesh’s potential. The state aims to become a $1 trillion economy.
Over the last seven years, Uttar Pradesh has emerged as a major electronics manufacturing region, with over 200 companies and a commanding 65 percent share of India’s mobile production. The state is now focussing on extending its role in the fabless semiconductor business, taking advantage of its vast rail network and improving airport infrastructure, particularly the upcoming Noida International Airport. These developments make Uttar Pradesh more appealing to high-tech firms and worldwide chip design and R&D organisations.
