Mumbai: Ajit Pawar, the 60-year-old leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) who promised to support his party in Maharashtra's Devendra Fadnavis government, has resigned as Deputy Chief Minister. Pawar's exit from the government comes after the NCP's continued efforts to persuade him to withdraw from the state government of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). This morning, around the same time that the Supreme Court delivered its verdict to Fadnavis ' floor test fast-track, the last such effort was made.
