The Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) has announced Tuesday's implementation of the reduced tariffs for its buses. The state issued the necessary government resolution (GR) to lower the tariffs for various distance slabs late on Monday evening.

Instead of Rs 8 for a 5-km trip, commuters will now have to pay a minimum fare of Rs 5. After the fare revision, Rs 5, Rs 10, Rs 15 and Rs 20 will be charged on BEST buses for 5 km, 10 km, 15 km and 20 km respectively.

Passengers will have to pay a minimum fare of Rs 6 instead of the prior Rs 20 for traveling on air-conditioned (AC) buses. The price on the AC buses would be Rs 25 for a 20-km trip.
