City Temple Celebrates Chaitra Navratri And Ram Navami With Enthusiasm

Mumbai: Chaitra Navratri, also known as Vasantha Navaratri and Ram Navami, is the second most celebrated Navaratri festival. It is named after “vasanta,” which means spring, and is observed during the lunar month of Chaitra (March–April). This festival is dedicated to Goddess Durga, whose nine forms are worshipped over nine days. The celebration began on March 30 and concluded on April 6, ending with the observance of Ram Navami.

At Sri Sankara Mattham in Matunga, the festival, referred to as Sri Ramanavami Utsavam, commenced with the chanting of the Sri Rama Moola Mantra and homam. Daily ceremonies included Sri Vidya Homam, Navavarana Pooja, Suvasini Pooja, Sri Rama Raksha Homams, and Sri Suktha Homam, allowing devotees to participate during their birth star. The festivities concluded with Poornahuti and Abhishekams on the last day.

At the Asthika Samaj, also known as Ram Mandir, devotees performed the annual Milk Abhishekam on the idols of Lord Ram and his consort.
