Mumbai: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has announced that Mumbai schools and colleges will stay closed on Monday to make sure students are not placed at danger owing to heavy rainfall in recent days.

At least five people died throughout the day in rain-related events across the districts of Mumbai, Pune and Palghar, while a person was missing after falling into a swollen sewage line at Dharavi in Central Mumbai.

The Indian Air Force had airlifted around 56 people from Khandvali and Thane district near Mumbai today, after Maharashtra Chief Minister  requested  to help the villagers.
