Terming the non granting of NOC and Occupancy Certificate to completed buildings of University of Mumbai a wastage of national resources, Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari today asked officials of Municipal Corporation and Fire Brigade to provide early clearances to completed university buildings.
The Governor expressed strong displeasure that 38 buildings of the University are lying unused in absence of NOC from Fire Department and Occupancy Certificate from the BMC.
Governor Koshyari today paid his second visit to the Kalina Campus of the University of Mumbai during which he visited various departments and buildings of the University. The Governor gave instructions to the officials during a meeting with University authorities and officials of BMC and Fire Department.
A presentation was made before the Governor on the Major Projects and Future plans of the University for the strengthening of the University. The Governor was also apprised of the work of the new Examination Building, New Library Building, International Students Hostel and the New Girls Hostel, Development of the Master Plan of Heritage Conservation and Solar Energy Project.
The Governor visited the Dr Ambedkar Bhavan, the National Centre for Nano Science and Nano Technology, Incubation for Developing Enterprenerushp and Start Up Centre,, Green Technology Building, the School of Basic Sciences, the New Examination Building and the Knowledge Resource Centre of the University. The Governor visited the Laboratories and the Jawaharlal Nehru Library where he inspected the rare manuscripts and collection.
Vice Chancellor Dr Suhas Pednekar presented a replica of the Rajabai Tower to the Governor. The meeting was attended by Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Ravindra Kulkarni, Registrar (IC) Baliram Gaikwad, Deans of various faculties and members of the University authorities.
