Mumbai: Maharashtra Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan praised the IMC Chamber of Commerce for creating a Miyawaki-style forest at Maharashtra Raj Bhavan in Mumbai. He encouraged the Chamber to develop similar forests at state universities and to involve students in environmental protection activities.

The Governor made these remarks during a meeting with office bearers and past presidents of the IMC Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Friday, following the inauguration of the IMC Miyawaki Forest at Raj Bhavan.

Additionally, the Governor released an informational booklet about the Miyawaki Forest project at Raj Bhavan and unveiled a commemorative plaque for the occasion.

He also engaged with industry leaders and commended the gardeners involved in the plantation and conservation work of the Miyawaki Forest.

The Miyawaki Forest at Raj Bhavan was initiated under the IMC Centenary Trust and implemented by Keshav Srushti.

As part of this project, 2,000 saplings representing 48 different varieties have been planted on a 6,000 sq ft plot on the western sea front of Raj Bhavan.

The saplings include Adulsa, Ananta, Anjeer, Awala, Ber, Chandan, Dalchini, Kadhipatta, Kaju, Kharvand, and others in the Miyawaki forest at Raj Bhavan.

Ltd Ramesh Narayan, co-chairman IMC Young Leaders’ Forum Ateet Sanghavi, co-chairperson IMC Young Leaders’ Forum Jyotsana Sanghi, CA Rajesh Choudhary, director general Ajit Mangrulkar, deputy director generals Sanjay Mehta and Sheetal Kalro were present.
