Maha Ponnonam 2025 – A Celebration of Kerala’s Culture in Maharashtra

Mumbai: The World Malayalee Federation – Maharashtra State Council (WMF-MSC) is all set to host its first flagship event – Maha Ponnonam 2025 – a celebration of the vibrant and timeless festival of Onam, on Sunday at Holy Angels’ School & Junior College, in Mumbai’s suburb of Dombivli.

This cultural extravaganza will commence in the morning with a traditional Pookkalam (floral rangoli) competition, followed by captivating Kerala classical dances and group song performances. Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Eknath Shinde, and MLA Rajesh More (Kalyan Rural Constituency) are expected to attend the event.

Also gracing the occasion will be celebrated actresses from the Malayalam film industry, along with distinguished dignitaries from various professional fields.

More than 500 guests are expected to attend the event, which will conclude in the afternoon with the serving of an authentic Kerala Sadhya (traditional Onam feast) in the school auditorium.

The event is being organised by the World Malayalee Federation – Maharashtra State Council, a newly established but fast-growing chapter of the global WMF movement. WMF is an international platform committed to connecting, empowering, and uplifting Malayalees across the globe through cultural promotion, social service, professional networking, and welfare initiatives.

Recognition of achievers in various fields through the Maha Ponnonam Excellence Awards 2025 will be done on the occasion.

Speaking about the event, Dr. Oommen David, Patron of WMF-MSC, stated, “Onam is more than a festival—it is an emotion that unites every Malayalee. Maha Ponnonam 2025 is our way of bringing Kerala’s spirit to Maharashtra and celebrating our roots with pride.”
