Maharashtra Governor Attends Gita Jayanti Festival in Mumbai

Mumbai: Maharashtra Governor C. P. Radhakrishnan attended, on Wednesday, the Gita Jayanti Festival, which was organised by Poisur Gymkhana and ISCKON Juhu at Kandivali in Mumbai.

The Governor, in a gesture of respect, felicitated a diverse group of dignitaries including Brahmakumari Binduben, former secretary of Mumbai Cricket Association Dr. P. V. Shetty, Regional Director of Sports Authority of India Pandurang Chate, and others. They were honoured with Srimad Bhagwat Gita and mementos, symbolising the unity and diversity of the event.

The event was graced by the presence of not only dignitaries but also devotees, including MLA Ashish Shelar, MLA Manisha Chaudhary, MLA Sanjay Upadhyay, former MP Gopal Shetty, President of Bhagwad Gita Shiksha Abhiyan Samiti Dr. Yogesh Dubey, President of Juhu ISKCON Braj Hari Das, President of Poisnur Gymkhana Mukesh Bhandari, and Attorney General of Texas Ken Paxton. Their presence added a spiritual essence to the occasion.

Gita Jayanti, the 5161st anniversary of the birth of the Bhagavad Gita, is observed on December 11, 2024, coinciding with Mokshada Ekadashi. Devotees recite the Gita, perform pujas, and share its teachings to honor the day when Arjuna, during the battle of Kurukshetra, was torn by doubt and confusion. He stood in the battle field and asked Lord Krishna for directions. Lord Krishna’s teachings became a philosophical cornerstone, shaping Hindu thought and influencing
