Mumbai: Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray ordered a review on Sunday of the bullet train project Rs 1.2 lakh crore Mumbai-Ahmedabad as part of a wider audit of state infrastructure projects to determine the new administration's priorities. He said his government would withdraw all cases against people protesting against trees felling in September to make way for a subway car shed in Mumbai's Aarey Milk Colony, and reiterated his commitment to an unconditional waiver of farm loans. "The state's power dynamics have changed," Thackeray said, whose party, the Shiv Sena, opposed the project backed by Japan and supported farmers protesting against the project's acquisition of their land. The chief minister also said that his government will bring in a white paper on the financial condition of the state government that has a debt of nearly Rs 5 lakh crore.
