Kozhikode: Former Kerala State Minister and Senior Congress leader P Sankaran passed away on Tuesday midnight at a private hospital, Kozhikkode. He was living at Kozhikkode his wife and three children and was undergoing treatment for cancer.

Sankaran known to be the closest of  K. Karunakaran, accepting his advice to contest the Kozhikode,  Lok Sabha election 1998, he won defeating MP Veerendra Kumar. Later he became the  State Minister in A.K. Antony cabinet in 2001.

Sankaran with his naturally polite manners is well accepted among Kerala Politicians and was tried to keep in touch with voters and common man.
