In memory of the music maestro Bharat Rathna Late Dr M.S. Subbulakshmi’s 15th death anniversary, the SIES College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Sion jointly with the Cultural Association, Tamil association and Past students’ association of the college conducted an inter-college music competition in both vocal and instrumental music. In this present and alumni of the institutions also participated.

“MS” is the first Indian musician who was awarded both Bharat Rathna and Ramon Magsaysay award passed away on December 11, 2004.

                                                                                                                                 

Sri. Shanmukhananda Sabha’s music school director, Smt. Sidhi Krishnamurthy, singers Nithya Rajendran, Nikhita Iyer rendered MS’s favourite songs. In the competition, Shreya Mohan ( vocal) and Suraj Subramanian bagged first prizes. The programme began with lighting the lamps and offering floral tributes to the portrait of the legendary singer. A short film on the singer’s music history was also screened.
