MUMBAI: With Ganesh festival nearing, an eco-friendly Ganesha modelling workshop was organised at the SIES College, Sion (W), jointly conducted by the college Cultural association and Khula Aasman Trust, which is an organisation with a tag line "Crafting Art for Social Change".

The trust believes that the art has the power to cross over differences of caste, class, gender, language, region and age and also believed in doing with the hands-on work while remaining conscious towards the needs of the fragile environment.

About 30 students and staff had participated in the workshop which was inaugurated by Dr Uma Shankar, college principal and conducted by Ms Sarita Ganesh of the Trust. Many who came to watch learnt the process of making the clay models and all those participated took their idols home. Dr Lakshmi Muthukumar, head of the English department said “ I tried my hand in making mud Ganesha and I feel happy, I succeeded in making this and I will display this at my home this year” she said.
