Mumbai: As speculations about veteran actor Dharmendra’s death spread, his son, actor Sunny Deol’s team, has released another clarification, stating that the actor is stable. They also encouraged individuals to avoid spreading misinformation.
The team said in a statement, “Mr Dharmendra is stable and under observation. Further comments and updates will be shared as available. Kindly don’t indulge in spreading false rumours regarding his health. Request everyone to pray for his speedy recovery and respect the family’s right to privacy.”
On Monday evening, Dharmendra’s sons, stars Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol, visited him. Another Bollywood actor, Salman Khan, was also seen arriving at the hospital under heavy protection.
Bollywood megastar Shah Rukh Khan was also seen arriving at the Breach Candy Hospital in South Mumbai to see the legendary actor after he was admitted.
The actor’s Rolls-Royce Cullinan Black Badge was spotted arriving at the hospital. The actor’s eldest son, Aryan Khan, was also seen accompanying him on the visit to the veteran actor.
Dharmendra, who was reportedly placed on a ventilator, is reported to be experiencing breathing issues. Dharmendra is one of Bollywood’s longest-running and popular stars. He was born in Punjab in 1935 and began his career in the early 1960s, after being found during a talent hunt competition. In the late 1950s, Filmfare magazine, in cooperation with Bimal Roy Productions, held a nationwide talent search to discover fresh faces for Hindi cinema.
Dharmendra entered the competition and was picked as the winner in 1958 due to his outstanding looks and natural charm. This victory helped him break into the film industry. A similar talent hunt would later lead to the discovery of Rajesh Khanna, one of Hindi cinema’s biggest stars.
While ‘Chupke Chupke’ showcased his exceptional comic timing, action-packed dramas such as ‘Yaadon Ki Baaraat’ cemented his reputation as the ultimate Bollywood hero. Beyond his film career, Dharmendra’s modesty and charisma have made him a beloved figure both on and off the screen.
