New Delhi: The Association of Indian Universities (AIU) has suspended the membership of Al-Falah University, Faridabad, with immediate effect. The decision raises questions about the university’s compliance with academic standards and regulatory norms. The AIU action highlights growing scrutiny of private universities in Haryana.
The institution has been under intensive scrutiny during the terror investigation into the tragic Red Fort vehicle blast in Delhi on November 10. The action was taken by an official letter dated November 13, 2025.
The AIU said that the decision was based on “media reports”, stating that the university “does not appear to be in good standing” and citing its bylaws.
When it was discovered that Dr Umar Un Nabi, the main suspect in the November 10 explosion, was connected to this college along with fellow suspects Dr Muzammil Ganaie and Dr Shaheen Sayeed, the university was pushed into the national spotlight.
Al-Falah University has been ordered to immediately remove the logo from its official website and is no longer allowed to use the AIU name or emblem in any of its operations as a result of the suspension.
“Further, it is informed that Al-Falah University, Faridabad, Haryana, is not authorised to use the name or logo of AIU in any of its activities, and the AIU logo must be removed from the university’s official website forthwith,” the letter said.
The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), located in Bengaluru, sent the Al-Falah School of Engineering and Technology, Fatehpu, a show-cause notice earlier in the day for making misleading claims and disclosing that the university’s colleges are NAAC recognised.
Al-Falah University, a private university situated on Raga Road, District Faridabad, Dhauj, approximately 27 km from the Haryana-Delhi border, has gained national attention in recent days due to startling events, such as a massive explosives recovery and the explosion near Delhi’s famous Red Fort that shook the country and left 12 dead and numerous injured.
