Pune: On Sunday, police said, a 43-year-old American woman was charged with alleged abuse and assault of a burqa-clad doctor in Pune.
The U.S.lady is said to face mental disabilities and is receiving the same therapy, they said. She was prosecuted after a complaint was lodged by the 27-year-old doctor. 

The event occurred when the two women were shopping in the Pune cantonment area's Clover Center market, according to police.

The American woman inquired if she was a Muslim to the  victim.  "When the complainant answered in the affirmative, the American woman abused her and began to attack her," the Cantonment police station official said. "We have informed the US embassy about the incident," he added.
