On this sacred day, married Hindu women observe the festival to worship Maha Gauri Mata, seeking blessings for the well-being and longevity of their husbands. Goddess Gauri is the consort of Lord Shiva. On the auspicious day of Teej, married women fast and pray for a happy and harmonious married life, while unmarried women fast and pray for a suitable groom.
