Bengal to have its first Sanskrit University: Mamata

The West Bengal government has decided to set up the first Sanskrit University in the state, said Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said Wednesday.
"I am happy to share with you that we will be setting up a new Sanskrit University for the first time in the state," she said in a tweet.
Banerjee during the day also laid the foundation stone for the Priyamvada Birla Campus of South Point School in the city's south east outksirts at Mukundapur.
The state government has given 6.65 acres of land for the new integrated campus which can accommodate around 15,000 students and 575 teaching staff.
The chief minister also disbursed the Priyamvada Birla Scholarships to the second batch of recipients – 26 students from families with annual income less than Rs.75,000 and pursuing under-graduate studies in colleges and institutions in West Bengal.
