Director Of NEERI Atul Vaidya Appointed As Vice-Chancellor of LIT University

Mumbai: The Governor of Maharashtra and Chancellor of Universities C P Radhakrishnan, has appointed Dr. Atul Narayan Vaidya, the Director of NEERI Nagpur, as the Vice-Chancellor of the Laxminarayan Innovation Technological University, Nagpur.

Dr. Atul Vaidya has been entrusted with the role of Vice Chancellor for a term of five years. This term will commence from the date he assumes office or until he reaches the age of 65, whichever comes first.

Dr. Atul Vaidya, born on 4th December 1964, is a highly qualified individual. He holds an MSc in Chemical Engineering from LIT Nagpur and obtained his PhD from the prestigious Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University.

Dr. Vaidya’s journey at NEERI began in 1990 as a Junior Scientist, and he has since ascended to various levels, culminating in his appointment as the Vice-Chancellor of LIT University. His extensive experience in research, teaching, and administration is a testament to his capabilities.

The Governor, in a bid to ensure a fair and transparent selection process, constituted a selection committee. This committee, chaired by the esteemed former Director of CSIR, Dr. Raghunath Mashelkar, included Dr. Ashish Lele, Director of the National Chemical Laboratory, Prof. E. Suresh Kumar, former Vice Chancellor of The English and Foreign Languages University Hyderabad  , and Vikas Chandra Rastogi, Principal Secretary of higher and Technical Education.
