DU launches mobile app for undergraduate admission

Delhi University Wednesday released an indigenous android-based mobile application for undergraduate admission assistance which allows one to fill forms and send queries.
The app – called the "DU UG admissions" – was developed by a DU professor along with some university students.
"Information ranging from admission procedures, schedule, college directory, courses, university information centre and a whole variety of things will be easily available with this app," Gurpreet Singh Tuteja, DU deputy dean students welfare (DSW) and developer of the app, said at a press conference here.
The app can work without internet connectivity and has a section for the students to pen down their notes. "Students can also send mails and sms directly from the app. But for the sms, they would be charged," said Tuteja.
The app is also linked to the university website and websites of 64 colleges, for which internet connectivity will be required.
"It hardly took me a week to develop this, but I have been working on making the template for three months now," he said.
With linkage to Google maps, locating colleges will just be a click away with this application. One can also get updated news on it along with the option to search for anything from Google.
The app has a DU logo and can be downloaded from the university website.
"This is clearly an endeavour of the university to make it student-friendly and make life easy for them," said Malay Neerav, DU joint dean student's welfare and media co-ordinator.
The admissions to DU undergraduate courses begin June 2.
