As many as 24 candidates scored 100% in Paper 1 of JEE (Main) this year for admission to engineering colleges as per the final merit list announced by National Testing Agency (NTA). Eight of these candidates are from Telangana, five from Delhi, four from Rajasthan, three from Andhra Pradesh, two from Haryana and one each from Gujarat and Maharashtra.

The JEE (Main) exams were conducted in January and September this year with the second cycle being postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Paper 1 is for admission to B.Tech / BE programmes in IITs, NITs and centrally funded technical institutions. Results for B. Arch courses haven’t been announced yet.

The second cycle of examinations had witnessed calls for postponement due to the coronavirus pandemic but Supreme Court of India rejected the petition and ruled that students will lose one year and hence exams were held as scheduled.
