Bengaluru Meet Explores AI’s Role in Education

Bengaluru: A roundtable discussion held here recently brought together senior academic leaders to explore the growing impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in higher education.

Conducted by Education Growth Network (EGN) India, the event provided a valuable platform for discussions on AI adoption in learning and administration. It not only encouraged collaboration and innovation but also offered practical insights and strategies that can be implemented in the education sector.

Attended by vice-chancellors, principals, deans, and directors from leading universities and colleges. The roundtable discussion enabled senior academic leaders to share knowledge and explore AI’s evolving role in education. Attendees engaged in meaningful conversations, exchanged insights on AI-driven learning models, and discussed strategies for integrating AI effectively and positively.

The keynote speaker, Anish Kumar, Asia Ai Software Engineering Leader at Intel, said, “Nowadays, everybody is using technology, right? Laptops are common. I actually see education in two phases—before COVID and after COVID. Before COVID, education was mostly in-person with minimal use of technology.”

Next, Dr Nitin Garg, Director and Founder of the International School of Management Excellence (ISME) made a compelling call to action, emphasising the importance of clear policy frameworks for AI in education. “Our campus is in Bangalore. My first question to policymakers is: What guidelines and rules do you expect to implement for AI in education? What are your concerns?” he asked, urging decision-makers to provide clarity and specific direction.

With around 25 senior education leaders in attendance, the event was a valuable forum for collaboration and strategy-building in the evolving education landscape.

Other important participants, each bringing their unique perspectives, were Dr Anupama Sanjeev, assistant director, Academia Affairs, Atria University; Dr Monit Kapoor, pro-vice-chancellor, Amity University Bangalore; Dr Raj Singh, vice-chancellor, Jain (Deemed-To-Be-University); Dr Sam Paul Issac, director, Krupanidhi Group of Institutions.
