Mumbai: In a significant move set to transform hospitality education, Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) recently formalised a landmark academic collaboration with A-Star Academy. The partnership aims to create a new benchmark in industry-integrated learning by combining SPPU’s academic excellence with A-Star Academy’s cutting-edge industry expertise.
This alliance will introduce future-ready programmes designed to bridge the gap between classroom knowledge and real-world application, empowering students with global-standard skills and hands-on training. With this collaboration, India’s hospitality education sector takes a bold step towards producing industry leaders equipped for the dynamic demands of the global service industry.
This partnership will offer various degree, diploma, and certificate programmes, beginning with a 3-Year Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Hospitality Studies, with SPPU as the degree/diploma/certificate awarding body and A-Star Academy as the academic delivery partner.
A-Star Academy, an initiative by Aamby Valley City and Hotel Sahara Star, is committed to redefining hospitality education through experiential, hands-on learning. The Academy bridges the gap between traditional curriculum and modern industry needs by immersing students in real-world, industry environments from day one.
The curriculum, curated and delivered by practising industry professionals, ensures relevance, practical competence, and global applicability. Students will gain both theoretical knowledge and operational expertise essential for successful hospitality careers.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed at SPPU, in the office of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Suresh Gosavi, who represented the University. The thought-leader behind this revolutionary teaching pedagogy in hospitality, Romie Dutt, Executive Director of Aamby Valley City and Hotel Sahara Star, signed on behalf of A-Star Academy.
