B-Town pays tribute to Attenborough

Tinsel Town Mumbai pays rich tribute to ‘Gandhi’ producer and Oscar winning story teller late Richard Attenborough and believes that the death of the "ultimate creator of biopics" marks the end of an era.

Attenborough breathed his last on Sunday at the age of 90.

Hindi film fraternity expressed their grief over what they think as the ‘great loss’:

Annu Kapoor reminisced that his first earning in the city of Mumbai was on August 25, 1982 when he dubbed for a cameo role in 'Gandhi' in the attendance of Attenborough nearly 32 years back. “It’s the great loss to the film world. May god rest his soul in peace, he said.

Filmmaker Rakesyh Omprakash Mehra said he was one of the legends of the movie world who is no more ‘among us’. From "Brighton Rock" to "A Bridge Too Far" to "Gandhi" – he has given us so much. He lives forever in his work.

Nagesh Kukunoor believed his demise was a loss to the film fraternity. 32 years later, "Gandhi" still remains the greatest film made on India, Kukunoor observed.

R. Balki believes he reincarnated Mahatama Gandhi. “He was god”, he said.

Another film maker Santosh Sivan considered him  as the one who spread hope and positivity through his documentaries and feature films. He was a true artiste. He loved nature. And we could see his closeness to nature in his cinema. "Gandhi" is timeless.

Shoojit Sircar said that no other movie on Gandhi has attracted such a worldwide recognition as Richard's "Gandhi". One has the highest respect for what he has achieved.
