Media Eye News Bureau: Big Little Lies season two is officially happening as confirmed by HBO after months of rumours and also confirmed that Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman will return as both stars and executive producers of the series as well. The shooting is likely to commence in spring of this year and is aimed for a 2019 release.

Andrea Arnold will direct all episodes of the new season and negotiations are reportedly in the works with other cast members of season one including Zoe Kravitz, Shailene Woodley, Adam Scott, and Laura Dern, among others. Executive producer Jean-Marc Vallée is also shared information regarding an addition to the cast, "There’s a new character coming. Perry's mother, that’s all I can say.”

There were reports about the addition of four new characters in season 2, including Bonnie's parents, a new teacher at Otter Bay Elementary School, and a new employee in the school's office as well.
