RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) updated their sites to reveal the 104 songs and 17 albums that were certified gold or platinum. BTS songs from their Love Yourself: Her EP, Mic Drop and DNA earned the distinction with half a million certified units.

BTS became the first Korean group to warrant an RIAA distinction as well as BTS is the first K-pop group to receive a Billboard Music Award. Their success comes after their ascent since the release of their first album in 2013 along with their growing fandom worldwide, dubbed as ARMY.
