Veteran actress Kishori Ballal, best known for playing Shah Rukh Khan’s mother Kaveri Amma in Swades passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2020. The Bollywood and Kannada actress was admitted in a Bangalore hospital with age-related health issues.

The actress who began her career with Kannada film Ivalentha Hendthi in 1960 had a career spanning decades. Kishori Ballal in her career worked with some well-established filmmakers such as Ashutosh Gowariker who expressed his condolences in Twitter. 

Ballal who forayed into Bollywood following stellar performances in Kannada films starred in films such as 'Kahi', 'Carry On Maratha', 'Aiyyaa', 'Lafangey Parindey', and many more.
