Media Eye News Bureau: The trailer for Pacific Rim: Uprising, the sequel to Guillermo del Toro’s 2013 film Pacific Rim was released by Legendary Entertainment.

In the first movie, humanity faced an invasion of giant monsters called Kaiju, who were beaten back by Jaegers. In this sequel that is directed by Steven S. DeKnight, the Kaiju have been shown to have returned a decade later.

The film stars Charlie Day, Burn Gorman, and Rinko Kikuchi along with John Boyega who plays the son of the deceased former leader of the Jaeger corps and Idris Elba as well.

The movie depicts the Kaiju shown to be drawn back to Earth by someone with an unknown agenda, setting up not just another monster versus mech fight, but potentially some big mech versus mech battle as well.
