Respect for 'Raghupati Raghav' intact: Prasoon on 'Satyagraha' version

Writer-lyricist Prasoon Joshi, who has taken the epic number "Raghupati Raghav" as the base for a song in "Satyagraha", says he has infused a few more emotions into the original without disturbing its authenticity.

"Satyagraha" is directed by Prakash Jha and the political thriller takes stock of the current situation in the country through various characters played by Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgn, Manoj Bajpayee, Kareena Kapoor and Amrita Rao.

"Raghupati Raghav" has been composed by Salim-Sulaiman.

"'Raghupati Raghav' comes as it has always been and the respect towards these lines is present. But besides that there are certain other emotions that I have tried to portray in the song," the 41-year-old said here Thursday at the launch of the song.

"Something that Prakashji is trying to tell through the film, I am trying to tell through the song. So it is not like the song has been changed, but a journey taking the original song as inspiration," he added.

The music of "Satyagraha" is an amalgamation of compositions by various music directors, including Salim-Sulaiman, Indian Ocean and Meet Brothers, besides Aadesh Srivastav.

Prasoon goes on to add that not all songs in the album are of a serious nature and  carry different flavours.

"I want to add one thing about the music that it is very entertaining, there are different types of songs and all of them are not serious," he said.

"Aadesh Srivastavji has composed a romantic song also and there are a lot of masti in the songs. So don't think that all the songs are like 'Raghupati Raghav'. Please also wait for them," he added.
