Actor Sadashiv Amrapurkar passed away early on Monday morning. Born on May 11, 1950 at a small town in Ahmednagar, he breathed his last at Kokilaben hospital this morning. He was 64.
Amrapurkar admitted to Kokilabhen Ambani hospital, was kept in the ICU for treatment of a lung infection weeks ago.
In his long career, he has won two Filmfare awards – in 1984, he won for the best supporting actor for Ardh Satya and in 1991 the best villain trophy for his portrayal of a ruthless eunuch in Sadak. He has been an actor of exception in both Hindi and Marathi movies.
The actor is also known for his performance in Aankhen, Ishq, Coolie No 1 and Gupt: The Hidden Truth among others. His comic sense was outstanding and at the same time known for his remarkable role as villain in Bollywood.
Born and brought up in a Maharashtrian Brahmin family he was fondly called Tatya by his fans and close friends.
His funeral would be conducted at Ahmednagar tomorrow as per sources.
