In an attempt to break the clutter and monotony in the comedy genre on Indian television, Sab TV and Hats-Off Productions are geared to bring to viewers a truly "out of the world" experience, and quite literally so with "Badi Dooooor Se Aaye Hai", said to be the country's first alien comedy series. Starting June 9, the show will feature a cast of 18, including well known actors like Sumeet Raghavan, Tanaaz and Bakhtiyar Irani.
Its plot revolves around an alien family coming to earth in search of their lost son. Equipped with superpowers, they assume human form to blend in with the community. The series will show the struggle of the alien family to fit into the norms of society and culture and their funny experiences with humans.
"The audience needed something 'out of the world', something not seen earlier, so we took the term 'out of the world' seriously for a comedy show, and came up with this show, which is India's first alien comedy series," J.D. Majethia, founder, Hats-Off Productions, said at the show's launch here Tuesday.
The idea is to always come up with something different, he said, adding that he's a huge fan of Hollywood filmmakers like James Cameron and Steven Spielberg, who made films like "Avatar" and "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial".
"Badi Dooooor…" will cover a range of human emotions like love, laughter and curiosity to keep the family audience engaged. Some of the cast members were present here for the show's launch, and they were visibly excited about the new concept.
