Media Eye News Bureau: After a long wait by eager Harry Potter fans around the world, the fan made film, that traces Tom Riddle’s journey to becoming the dark wizard Lord Voldemort, has finally released for free viewing on YouTube after gaining assent from Warner Bros.

The movie, named Voldemort: Origins of The Heir  tells the tale of Grisha McLaggen, the heir of Gryffindor and an auror trying to stop the rise of Tom Marvolo Riddle aka Lord Voldemort. It follows her journey from where she is captured trying to steal back Tom Riddle’s diary from Russian aurors and through this interrogation, the movie commences with a flashback to Riddle’s dark life where he lies, manipulates and kills to acquire the heirlooms of the famous founders of Hogwarts that are Helga Hufflepuff’s Cup, Salazar Slytherin’s Locket and Rowena Ravenclaw’s Diadem which in the original Harry Potter films are recognised as Voldemort’s horcruxes or the objects that contain a piece of his soul. The 50 minute long film, is said to be inspired by JK Rowling’s Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince

The movie is produced by Tryangle films and is an Italian movie redubbed in English. Director Gianmaria Pezato explained the reason to make the film, as he said, “We wondered, ‘What made Tom Riddle become Voldemort?’ What happened in those years, and what really went down at Hogwarts when he came back? There are some clues in the books which have not been transposed at all in the movies, but a lot goes unspoken. This is the story we want to tell: The rise of the Dark Lord before Harry Potter and his first demise.”

Warner Bros. who produced and distributed the original Harry Potter films contacted the filmmakers when they put up an appeal for funds on an online crowdsourcing resource called  ‘Kickstarter.’ The studio only allowed the filmmakers to proceed with the film if the makers agree to release the film for free after completion.
