Mumbai: Singer Sukhbir has refreshed his iconic hit “Sauda Khara Khara” by infusing it with Rajasthani folk elements, creating a vibrant blend of Punjabi energy and traditional desert sounds.
Taking to social media, Sukhbir shared a video of himself sitting and playing the harmonium. In the clip, Rajasthani folk singers are sitting next to him with a dhol and khartal.
They all could be seen singing the number, which was also recreated for the film Good Newwz starring Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Kiara Advani and Diljit Dosanjh.
The video had a text overlay that read: “When she’s a 10/10 Rajasthani baddie.”
Sukhbir captioned the clip on Instagram: “Send this to a baddie.”
Sukhbir is known for his high energy Bhangra music varied from fusion styles to pure traditional Punjabi sounds. He gained fame with hits such as “Ishq Tera Tadpave”.
Sukhbir’s first installment was New Stylee and was recorded in Dubai. The album was nominated and won the 1996 Channel V Awards in three categories.This album was followed by another, Gal Ban Gayi, and then a third called Hai Energy.Gal Ban Gayi went Platinum in 1997.
The 56-year-old singer’s other album, Dil Kare, includes hits such as the title song and Nachle Soniye. The video to the song ‘Girls Girls Girls’ features various Indian actresses, including Prachi Desai, Lara Dutta, Priyanka Chopra and Divya Chauhan.
Sukhbir, who was born in Bhogpur, Jalandhar, Punjab, and was raised in Kenya, also lent his vocals for the song Dil Laga Na from Dhoom 2. He has also sung a song with the Canadian band Josh. In 2021, he released the track ‘Nachdi’, featuring Arjun, which peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard Top Triller Global Charts.
He has also lent his music for films such as Irrfan Khan’s “Hindi Medium”, Salman Khan-starrer “Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan”, and “Ghudchadi” starring Sanjay Dutt and Raveena Tandon.
