Ahmedabad, Gujarat: In the Ahmedabad plane crash, after DNA confirmation, dead bodies are being handed over to families at the new post-mortem unit of Civil Hospital. DNA tests have confirmed the identities of 31 victims killed in the catastrophic plane crash in Ahmedabad, and 12 of the bodies have already been handed over to their families, authorities at Civil Hospital reported on Sunday.
The mortal remains of one of the passengers, Kalpanaben Prajapati from Vadodara, were brought to her residence through a green corridor. A large number of family members, friends, and neighbours gathered to bid a tearful farewell to the departed soul.
Another victim, Hardikbhai Avaiya, a London resident and student, died in the Ahmedabad plane crash. His family mourned deeply as his body arrived in Adtala.
On the third day after the crash, BJP MP Parshottam Rupala visited the residence of the late former Chief Minister Vijay Rupani. Mr Rupani’s identity has not yet been confirmed through DNA testing, and the search continues to identify his mortal remains.
A Heavy police presence was also seen outside the post-mortem room as an ambulance transported a dead body to the Ahmedabad Civil Hospital.
Meanwhile, a rescue operation is underway at the Air India Flight AI171 plane crash site. Teams from NDRF, Gujarat Police, and other investigation units are present on the spot, continuing search and recovery efforts.
