Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu: A rare Brahma lotus, known to bloom only once a year at night, blossomed in Thangavelu’s home in Sundarapuram. Locals gathered in awe to worship the sacred flower, celebrating its spiritual significance with devotion.
The Brahma Kamal, also known as the Queen of the Night, is a rare and sacred flower found in the Himalayan region, particularly in Uttarakhand. It is known for its unique blooming pattern, where it blossoms only once a year, usually after sunset, and remains open for a few hours. This flower is deeply rooted in Hindu mythology, believed to have sprung from Brahma’s head during the creation of the universe. It is used on auspicious occasions and ceremonies.
Reportedly, the Brahma Kamal plant has been traditionally used to treat various ailments. It is said to have anti-inflammatory, antipyretic, diuretic, expectorant, sedative, and tonic properties. It is known to be an effective remedy for skin disorders like eczema and psoriasis. It also helps in healing wounds and burns, is believed to have anti-cancerous properties and is known to boost immunity and fight infections.
