India’s first indigenous vaccine has been 81% effective in controlling coronavirus after second dose in those without prior infection, as per its interim phase 3 results which were announced yesterday.

This puts Covaxin at par with other global front-runner vaccines said the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) in a press statement.

The results which were evaluated by an independent data safety and monitoring board revealed that the vaccine was well tolerated and efficient against Covid-19 across a wide range of age groups who were administered the vaccine shots.

India has initiated the world’s biggest vaccination drive against coronavirus and Covaxin along with Covishield are leading the fight against Covid-19.
