Kerala gets notice over patients losing eyesight

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Tuesday issued notice to the Kerala government over four people losing their eyesight after undergoing surgery for cataract in a government hospital.
Taking suo motu cognizance of media reports, the NHRC issued notice to the principal secretary, health and family welfare department of the Kerala government. The official has been asked to submit a report within four weeks.
"Four persons, who underwent cataract surgery in Thrissur Medical College in the last three weeks, lost their eyesight. The report, if true, raises a serious issue of violation of right to health of the victims," said the commission.
