Asian nations to discuss child rights

Delegates from over 33 Asian countries, including India, will discuss the rights of adolescents and children at a meeting here from Wednesday.
The three-day meeting will be inaugurated by India'sWomen and Child Development Minister Krishna Tirath, whose ministry is hosting the event, officials in ministry said Tuesday.
A similar meeting on cooperation on child rights among Asian countries was held in Beijing in 2010.
The meeting will bring together delegates from countries in the Asia-Pacific region, regional organisations and Unicef.
It will assess the progress and advances on cooperation among countries of the region, support governments and other national partners to include the promotion of child rights and encourage the development of networks for knowledge exchange, peer learning and coordination.
Adolescent rights and fulfilling child rights are among the themes identified for the meeting. It will also come out with a declaration that will identify key issues, conclusions, recommendations and commitments for future action.
