Bahrain set to sign media agreement with India

Bahrain is set to sign an information and media agreement with India, media reported Monday.
The country's cabinet Sunday gave its initial approval to the proposed agreement presented by Minister of State for Information Affairs Sameera Rajab, the Gulf Daily News reported.
"The agreement aims to enhance cooperation between the two countries in numerous fields," Rajab was quoted as saying.
"We are looking for the exchange of expertise in the field of government communication and the promotion of government policies, exchange of radio and television programmes and exchange of expertise in the field of filmmaking and film production.
"It will also involve training and exchange of expertise in the field of information and communication and exchange of visits of journalists and media personnel between the two countries," she said.
The cabinet referred the agreement to the Ministerial Committee for Legal Affairs for further review.
Once the review is done, an agreement would be signed with India's information and broadcasting ministry.
Meanwhile, initial approval was also given to a proposal by Rajab to obtain a licence to establish a monthly magazine specialising in educational activities in Bahrain.
